A lithium-ion battery fire isn’t like any other fire. When damaged or overheated, they can enter a state known as thermal runaway — an uncontrollable chain reaction that releases extreme heat, toxic gases, and can reignite hours or even days after suppression.

Standard Extinguishers Don’t Work

• ABC powder and CO₂ can suppress flames — but they cannot stop lithium battery thermal runaway.

• They don’t isolate the fuel source.

• They cannot prevent reignition.

• And they were never designed for lithium-ion technology.
